A small bass viola da gamba or lyra viol by Larry Higgins of San Francisco, bearing the label of his shop Higgins and Sons, dated May 1980. Birdseye maple back and ribs, multiple repaired cracks as shown. Open seam on back has been filled in. Instrument is structurally stable and has a very ample sound. Strung in Sensicore synthetic wound strings. Nylon frets. Very light construction. Mensur 674 mm Body length (measured from neck joint with top plate to bottom edge) 670 mm Total length not counting tailpiece protrusion 1195 mm (47 inches) Available for viewing in the Los Angeles area.
