About Vasantotsav

Vasantotsav is a tribute to Acharya Jialal Vasant Ji, The Founder of one of the most reputed music schools in Mumbai, Acharya Jialal Vasant Sangeet Niketan.

Every year, the Institute Honour’s eminent artist with the Uttam Vaggeyakar Jialal Vasant Award comprises of INR 1,00,000/- and a citation on a brick of silver weighing 1.25 kilos.

Pandit Kartick Kumar is an Indian musician and Sitarist, He was also a disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar. In 1958, Pandit Kartick Kumar has awarded the president’s Gold Medal all India Award for sitar at a music competition held by all India Radio.
Ustad Zakir Hussain is an India tabla virtuoso & eldest son of legendary tabla player Ustad Allah Rakha. He received the prestigious title of Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan from the Govt. of India.
Niladri Kumar is an unconventional rare instrumentalist, honing a unique repertoire and profound in-depth understanding of traditional and classical styles on the sitar to innovative, electrifying renditions on his own instrumental innovation the ‘zitar’

About Ajivasan

Ajivasan, Earlier Known as Vasant Sangeet Vidyalay, was founded in 1932 in Srinagar by Acharya Jialal Vasant under the patronage of SMT.Rameswari Nehru.
The Institute has a reputation for providing scientific training in Hindustani classical music, and the students had the opportunity to perform with the master on several occasions.
Today the institute trains about 2000 students every year in Hindustani and western classical vocals, Instrumental music as well as Indian and western dance forms.

The institute also houses four state of the Art Sound Recording studios. Here we train students In professional singing and recording music tracks, films, songs, and TV and Radio Ads.

The first is the Swami Haridas Award , which acknowledges the dedication and impact of unsung music teachers who have made significant contributions behind the scenes. These educators have shaped the lives and careers of countless students through their unwavering commitment to the art of music, often without seeking recognition or fame for themselves.

The second is the Master Madan Award , named in honor of the legendary child prodigy Master Madan. This award is bestowed upon young talents who have demonstrated extraordinary skill and promise in the fields of music whether it be vocal, instrumental, or dance. It aims to nurture and encourage the next generation of artists who, despite their young age, have shown exceptional dedication and talent, embodying the spirit and potential of future maestros in the cultural landscape.
